Rhina Palma-Cruz, enthralling various audiences in the country and in the world through their unique style of performing a wide-range repertoire of opera arias, Broadway classics, folksongs and even popular standards, all in a unique style of singing - bel canto or beautiful voice. As former soloists of the country’s premier choir and internationally acclaimed ensemble, The Philippine Madrigal Singers, these carefully honed, and seasoned singers have captivated audiences in their most recent performances in the United States of America, Canada, and China. They take pride in being the first performing group from the Philippines to have been invited in the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, Africa. In the Philippines, they have graced significant events for the 50th Anniversary of the ASEAN, official functions organized by the Department of Foreign Affairs, as well as international cultural exchange programs of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts. Last year, they wowed various audiences in different countries during their first European concert tour, where they were also invited to present during the 15th Festival de Música Española de Cadiz in Spain. Here, their performances were hailed as with “all pure sympathy and spontaneity, transmitting their culture through their voices.” (Jessica Sanchez-Ferragut, Diyaryo de Cadiz) Aiming to bring classical music closer to the younger audience, and to contribute to the development of choirs and singers all over the country, the duo has generously involved itself in reaching out to different music enthusiasts and aspiring singers by means of outreach workshops, further expanding the mission of the Philippine Madrigal Singers of a “Singing Philippines”.
